Unfortunately the economy has created a number of scams and illegitimate beach wedding websites. Some start ups simply won't be in business when your wedding date arrives. Red flags are:

1) No physical mailing address or a fake Ocean City address.
Ask to meet vendors at their listed address.

2) No land line telephone. MD vendors should have a (410) area code and DE vendors will have a (302) area code.

3) No posted prices. Wedding scam sites may ask you to fill out a "quote" or "check availability" form to start the "feeling out" process.

Protect yourself by asking to see the paperwork of any company you are considering doing business with.

Companies doing business in Ocean City or Assateague are required have the following:

Ocean City Business License

MD State Business License

Assateague Commercial Use Permit

Companies doing business on the Delaware beaches
require a Delaware Business License.

Please check that companies are Bonded and Insured.

Wedding Ministers need to have a Certificate of Ordination honored in the state of the wedding or the marriage will be invalid.

Inter-state Limousine service requires a MD Public Service Commision License and a DE Certificate of Public Convenience.
