Wedding Party Tasks

It is an honor to be asked to be a wedding attendant, however there are certain obligations you need to consider before accepting.  Involvement in the wedding party mean performing duties cheerfully, so make sure you can accept the role gracefully.

These are the wedding duties that are traditionally assigned to the Maid of Honor, Best Man, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Ushers, Flower Girl and Ring Bearer.  These can be time consuming tasks, but the joy and excitement shared on the big day will translate into priceless memories!

Maid/Matron of Honor
__attends all events in (especially photo sessions) in a timely manner
__arranges and helps pay for bridal shower and bachelorette party
__helps with decorations and party favors
__helps coordinate bridal attire
__helps select bridesmaids dresses
__maintains a record of gifts received
__holds the groom's ring
__holds bridal bouquet during ceremony
__arranges bridal train before vows
__acts as a witness and signs official wedding document
__hands out rice and confetti after ceremony
__responsible for own gown, shoes and accessories
__pays for own travel and hotel expenses

Bridesmaids
__attend all events (especially photos) in a timely fashion
__help arrange and pay for bridal shower
__assist with decorations and party favors
__decorate the car
__help maid of honor hand out rice and confetti
__run last minute errands
__assume Maid of Honor duties in her absence
__responsible for own gown, shoes and accessories
__pay for own travel and hotel expenses

Best Man
__attend all events on time (especially photos)
__provide itinerary for groomsmen and ushers
__oversee ushers
__arrange and help pay for the bachelor party
__hold the ring, license and airline tickets
__pay the wedding official
__plan transportation to and from ceremony
__toast the bride and groom at the reception
__return the grooms suit/tux to the bridal shop
__responsible for own attire, shoes and accessories

Groomsmen/Ushers
__attend all events on time (especially photo sessions)
__help plan and pay for the bachelor party
__assume the duties of greeting and seating the guests
__hand out programs
__decorate the car
__unroll the aisle runner
__responsible for own attire, shoes and accessories

Flower Girl
__precede the bride down the aisle and toss flower petals or hold bouquet
__responsible for own attire, shoes and accessories
 
Ring Bearer
__assist in handing out programs
__walk down the aisle with the ring placed atop a satin pillow
__may walk with the flower girl or after her
__responsible for own attire, shoes and accessories
